Former Torino defender Massimo Brambati believes that Inter are strong enough to defend last season’s Scudetto crown.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, as reported by FCInter1908, the 55-year-old stated his belief that the Nerazzurri will be strong enough to win Serie A despite the losses of Antonio Conte, Achraf Hakimi, and Romelu Lukaku.

Despite the Nerazzurri having won last season’s title, the club’s first in eleven years, by a comfortable margin and in impressive style, many observers have questioned whether they can make it two in a row after what has been a summer of upheaval.

The club have lost a talismanic manager and two of their most talented players, though they have brought in replacements and still have more transfer business to do.

Brambati believes that the Nerazzurri still have the quality needed to compete for the crown and that the mentality needed to fight at the top of the Serie A table will not have gone away.

“Inter are in the running for the title, if they keep the mentality that the coach gave them,” Brambati stated, “I have faith in Inzaghi and in the work that has been done.”

He continued, “I’m sure they will have a great championship and a great season. When a coach like Conte leaves, he leaves a job done.”

On the Nerazzurri’s prospects, Brambati said, “Inter have the strongest defense in the league. The only question mark is the goalkeeper [Samir Handanovic] who didn’t convince me, especially last year. The goalkeeper left more points on the table than he earned.”
