Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has explained how special it was to see the Inter fans in the stadium responding to how well his team played as they swept Genoa aside, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking to Inter’s official TV channel, Inter TV, after the match, with quotes reported by FcIterNews, Simone Inzaghi showed that the most important element of the evening for him was having the fans back in the ground.

“A great emotion. Just arriving at San Siro and seeing the fans jumping in joy was an incredible emotion. The last year and a half, playing in the empty stadiums, hasn’t been good.

“And here at San Siro it was wonderful, a fantastic welcome for me and the boys.”

The ex-Lazio manager was very happy with the overall performance of his Inter team. The Nerazzurri were 2-0 by the 14th minute thanks to goals from Milan Skriniar and new signing Hakan Calhanoglu.

The boss believes it was the aggressive style of play that held the key to success.

“The guys were very good, we approached the game in the best way, immediately aggressive, as we told ourselves these days. We won a very important game, we wanted to start on the right foot.

“Now we look ahead and already tomorrow we begin to think about the match on Friday.”

Stefano Sensi played behind the striker against Genoa but clearly, Simone Inzaghi feels that Hakan Calhanoglu could occupy that position very effectively as well as he naturally goes to that area.

“I believe that if necessary he could do it, as Sensi did today. Sensi did very well like Calhanoglu, they must continue like this knowing that we are waiting for the return of important players.

“We are satisfied and happy and we enjoy this debut.”
