Inter’s CEO Beppe Marotta has held a meeting with the Inter squad to make sure they are clear of what they are expected to achieve this season in Serie A and the other competitions, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, Beppe Marotta clarified to the players that their major goal this season, despite being the reigning champions of Italy, is to secure a place in next season’s Champions League tournament.

That shows that the CEO is not under any illusions as to the fact the squad has been made weaker than what it was when the Serie A title was won under Antonio Conte.

It is believed that by securing Champions League qualification and having raised a lot of money this summer, the club can then go on an upward trajectory rather than carry on with the way things are right now.
