Inter defender Milan Skriniar has explained that Inter cannot just concentrate on the successes of the win over Genoa, they must look ahead to the next game, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking to Inter’s official TV channel after the match, Inter TV, with quotes reported by FcINternews, the Slovenian defender explained that the hard work in pre-season paid off this evening for the Nerazzurri but they must switch to their focus to the next game against Hellas Verona.

“The coach has given us his game ideas on how to build and defend. We have worked in these two months, we have won the first game but we already have to think about the next match that awaits us on Friday.

“We are working and we will do it.”

Milan Skriniar was the player who got Inter off to the perfect start by heading in Hakan Calhanoglu’s excellent corner after just six minutes of play.

Despite being happy to score, the defender showed that he cares more about the team than his own goals.

“I am happy to have managed to score but the important thing is the victory. It is important to start well and what we did today was a very good performance.”

Another element of the victory that pleased the defender was the clean sheet. Apart from a couple of chances, Genoa never looked like threatening Inter.

“In front of us we have a strong team that scores, for us defenders it is important not to concede a goal and to win without taking one is always better.”

Milan Skriniar believes that with each game Inter win and perform well in, it makes their opponents more concerned about the Nerazzurri’s quality.

“We have to enter each game so motivated, we see that we take away hope from our opponents and play our game.”
