Edin Dzeko Suits Simone Inzaghi’s Inter More Than Romelu Lukaku Would Have, Italian Media Report

New Inter striker Edin Dzeko showed against Genoa that he suits the gameplan that Simone Inzaghi played more than departed striker Romelu Lukaku would have done, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by the Roma daily newspaper, Corriere dello Sport, the Bosnian forward’s incredible link-up play worked perfectly with the players that Simone Inzaghi placed around him.

The two players that he linked with the most were Stefano Sensi and Hakan Calhanoglu. This is because Simone Inzaghi placed Stefano Sensi just behind the striker like he used to do with Luis Alberto for Lazio in behind Ciro Immobile.

It is believed that the linking play of Edin Dzeko with these players around him is actually much more effective than it would have been if Romelu Lukaku was still in the side.

This is because the Belgian would be much more inclined to run behind the defenders rather than drop back to bring his teammates into play.
