Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has been speaking with confidence about the midfield options that he has available to him now after Arturo Vidal made such a difference from the bench in the win over Genoa, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during the post-match press conference following the Genoa victory, as reported by FcINternews, Simone Inzaghi revealed how pleased he was with the contributions of South American midfield duo Matias Vecino and Arturo Vidal when they came on.
“Vecino and Vidal, I did not know them personally, but they are two great players. For how they train they deserve to play from the first minute.”
He went on to point out that Roberto Gagliardini had no involvement at all today but he is another player who can add something to Inter’s midfield when needed.
“I have to make some choices, however, let’s not forget that Gagliardini was also missing. In midfield we are complete, from time to time I will choose the most congenial ones.”
In terms of the rest of the game, Simone Inzaghi says he was very calm coming into the game because of the performances in training.
“Yesterday I was calm because usually approaching the matches we’ll then see the results. Seeing the training sessions, with my staff, we knew that we should and could have played the game we did and we enjoy this success.”
One of the most important factors in how well Simone Inzaghi has done so far is apparently the togetherness that the squad already has.
“For sure, I found a very, very compact group that came from a very important season last year. Seeing them is a pleasure, for how they train and how they apply. So it’s right that they enjoy this success.”
