Inter striker Alexis Sanchez is expected back at the club’s training centre following time spent in Barcelona having a calf injury assessed.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Chilean’s future remains uncertain amid injury struggles which have been plaguing him.

Sanchez missed the Nerazzurri’s Serie A opener against Genoa this weekend and will also be ruled out of the Verona clash on Friday and through the international break.

The 32-year-old’s future beyond that remains uncertain, as the club are still working to determine the timeline for a full recovery from his current calf knock, but it could be some time before he is fully available for selection.

Sanchez has been working with orthopedic specialist Ramon Cougat in Barcelona, and will be further assessed by Inter’s medical staff, but it remains unclear how far he is from a return.

The player is back at the training centre now, however, and he will be working towards a full return as soon as he can.
