German club Borussia Dortmund have registered a late interest in signing Inter wing-back Valentino Lazaro before the transfer market closes.

This according to German news outlet Sport1, via FCInter1908, who report that the 25-year-old has emerged as a target for the Schwarzgelben and that they will compete with Benfica and Eintracht Frankfurt for his signature.

Lazaro has been thought to be close to the exit door at the Nerazzurri for much of the summer, with the Austrian out of favour having failed to establish himself since joining from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2019.

The wing-back spent the second half of his first season on loan with Newcastle United before moving to Borussia Monchengladbach on loan last season, and he could be set for a return to the Bundesliga to be reunited with former Gladbach head coach Marco Rose at Dortmund.

It remains to be seen if the German side will come in with a late offer for the 25-year-old or if their interest will not get this far.
