Inter and Benfica are making progress in talks over a move for wing-back Valentino Lazaro on a two-year loan with an obligation to buy on a permanent basis.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the player’s agent Max Hagmayr is in Milan working on the deal, and that the formula is set to be a two-year loan which includes a purchase option worth €8 million.

The Portuguese giants have been chasing Lazaro for some weeks and they now appear to be in pole position to complete his signing before the transfer window closes.

Benfica are not the only club who have shown an interest in the 25-year-old, who is out of favour at Inter, this summer but they are ready to win the race for his signature.

After the Nerazzurri allowed midfielder Joao Mario to leave by terminating his contract by mutual consent so that he could join Benfica, the fee for Lazaro will cover part of the compensation for the Portuguese midfielder.
