Lautaro Martinez could make his season debut for Inter against Verona on Friday from the start, while new wing-back signing Denzel Dumfries could also make his first start for the club.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the pair are already in contention for starting places in the fixture.

Martinez missed the Serie A opener against Genoa last Saturday through suspension having picked up an accumulation of yellow cards towards the end of last season.

The striker was also dealing with a minor muscle problem that would have likely ruled him out anyway, but he now appears to have put that issue fully behind him and could make his first competitive start under new coach Simone Inzaghi.

Dumfries, meanwhile, appeared in the Genoa win as a late substitute, not having been trusted from the start of the match due to having only arrived at the club days earlier.

He could however displace right-sided starter against Genoa Matteo Darmian for the Verona clash, with the 25-year-old Dutchman having been impressing Inzaghi in training.
