Inter could make a last-minute swoop for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca before the transfer window closes.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 22-year-old would be seen as a deputy for Edin Dzeko now that the signing of Andrea Belotti from Torino is ruled out.

The Nerazzurri have all but completed the signing of Joaquin Correa from Lazio, meaning that they have brought in their priority target in attack, but they may not be finished their summer business.

Belotti had been on Inter’s radar as a serious alternative to Correa, but with the Argentine’s signing wrapped up they will not move for the Torino captain.

Sassuolo are a club who they have a good relationship with, and they could still make a late move for Scamacca on loan with a purchase option.

Sampdoria and Hellas Verona are two other Serie A clubs credited with an interest in Scamacca and they could make a late move for him, though it remains to be seen whether they could beat the Nerazzurri in a chase for his signature.
