Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries is settling in well to life with the Nerazzurri after his move to the Giuseppe Meazza from PSV earlier this month.

Speaking to Inter TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the Dutchman gave his reflections on his new club, his earlier experiences in Milan, and his ambitions.

The 25-year-old was brought in a couple of weeks ago after the Nerazzurri had been pursuing him for much of the summer, and there are high hopes that his performances on the right flank will make a positive impression.

For Dumfries, playing for Inter is something of a dream come true, and even though he has only been at the club for a couple weeks, he already feels a sense of satisfaction and a feeling that he is at the right club.

The Dutchman is adjusting well and finds the scale and ambition of the club to be the right atmosphere for his career to develop to the next level.

“It’s going well and I’m enjoying it,” he stated, “My first week went great. This is a huge club. I really like the sports centre, and the stadium is really impressive.”

He continued, “I haven’t gotten to see much of the city of Milan yet, but the things I’ve seen so far are really lovely. I feel lucky here. It was a special moment for me. Of course I had a great desire to come onto the pitch! When the coach called me it was a special moment.”

“I had a very warm welcome from the fans,” he said, “Their support was felt, it was very nice. My family was also at San Siro and it was very nice for them too.”

The Dutchman spoke of feeling like he belongs at the Nerazzurri, saying that “Inside me I always felt that one day I would play for Inter. That evening my mom and dad were in Milan and she said I would play here one day. She had the right feeling.”

He went on, “I am proud to wear these colours. I want to do well, and as a team we want to try to win another title. I am a very ambitious person and I want to do well this year.”

On the Champions League he said, “I think it’s the biggest club tournament in Europe, it’s always good to play there. There are several great teams in Europe, but we are one of them too. We have a great squad. There are so many important teams and it is a special competition. I can not wait to start.”

Dumfries closed by relating that the most immediate priority is the next game, stating that “Verona is our next goal.”
