Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has made clear that the Nerazzurri are not planning on making any more signings this summer.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, reported by FCInter1908, the executive clarified that the club’s business is all done for the summer transfer window.

Inter have already signed the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Denzel Dumfries, Edin Dzeko, and Joaquin Correa in addition to selling Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku, as well as less prominent arrivals and departures.

The possibility remains that the club could bring in another player before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, but Marotta has given a clear indication that this will not be the case and that no more deals will be done in the next few days.

The CEO also gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s Champions League group, with the club set to face the likes of Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Sheriff Tiraspol.

“There is a distinction to be made between the league, where the best team always wins, and the Champions League where there are various circumstances.”

“It is unusual that there are three teams that were part of last season’s group,” he went on, “There is Shakhtar with De Zerbi, and then Sheriff, an unprecedented team. A difficult group, but the important thing is that you get to the matches with the best team. Real? Going to win at the Bernabeu is very difficult, for them to be back in home is a big advantage.”

On the work done to build a strong squad for coach Simone Inzaghi while also meeting strict targets, Marotta said that “We had to respond to the instructions of the club to secure the club. [Sporting Director Piero] Ausilio and [Dario] Baccin worked really well.”

“After the important transfers,” he went off “we took players who suited us according to our means. We succeeded. and took advantage of favourable circumstances – Calhanoglu was out of contract, Dzeko made use of a promise from Roma.”

He explained, “Perhaps this year we will have different characteristics, we are more unpredictable. Replacing Lukaku and Hakimi is not easy, but I am confident because we have done a great job . Inzaghi is very good and has a lot of enthusiasm.”

“I really don’t think there will be other transactions coming in,” Marotta continued, “The squad is balanced, we have replaced the starters in the best possible way and we have made the club secure. I am sure that the fans will understand the difficult moment.”

He closed with a word on the Nerazzurri’s European ambitions, stating that “Winning the Champions League is an important memory, the history of Inter is full of successes. It is not easy to win it, but we will do our best to win something.”
