Inter Have Reinvested €43.5M Of €185M Received In Transfer Fees This Summer, Italian Media Report

Inter have reinvested only a portion of the amounts received in transfer fees in the fees for new signings this summer, with €185 having come in during the window and only €43.5 million having been spent on new signings.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the fees received for Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi total €185 million while the signing of Joaquin Correa from Lazio takes the Nerazzurri’s total expenditure to €43.5 million.

Meeting financial targets has been on the agenda at Inter this summer, with the club having prioritized bringing in cash to stabilize their financial situations.

To this end, Hakimi was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in widely-anticipated move, while Lukaku’s shock departure to Chelsea earlier this month was also ultimately motivated by the need to bring in transfer revenues.

Replacements have been brought in for both outgoing players, specifically players who have Champions League experience and who the club feel head coach Simone Inzaghi can rely upon without the team’s level dropping.

However, in terms of the overall spending at the club, the total amount spent has not constituted a major reinvestment of the amounts received from PSG and Chelsea for Hakimi and Lukaku respectively in the transfer budget.
