Lautaro Martinez is expected to play from the start against Hellas Verona in this evening’s Serie A clash.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Argentine will likely be selected by manager Simone Inzaghi to play alongside Edin Dzeko and will make his season debut after missing the opener against Genoa.

Dzeko is expected to start the match after his strong performance against the Griffone last weekend, but as to who he is partnered with, Inzaghi will have a choice to make which he did not when only Stefano Sensi was available for selection last weekend.

New signing Joaquin Correa is already available for selection, while Sensi could also be trusted to play the same role that he did in the opener, but the manager is expected to hand Martinez the start.

The 24-year-old was absent from the Genoa clash through suspension after picking up an accumulation of yellow cards towards the end of last season, and has also been dealing with a minor muscle problem, but in all likelihood he will make his first start of the Inzaghi era.
