Nerazzurri Hero Nicola Ventola: “This Inter Is Good Enough To Win The Scudetto”

Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola believes that the Nerazzurri will have more than enough quality to compete for the title in Serie A this season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 43-year-old gave a positive appraisal of his former club in its current state and named them as Scudetto favourites.

Inter endured a summer of upheaval, losing important players Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku following the departure of head coach Antonio Conte, but they appear to have rebounded.

Their first performance of the season, an emphatic 4-0 win against Genoa at the Giuseppe Meazza, was an impressive debut for new manager Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri team, and new signings Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu had impactful performances with the likes of Joaquin Correa and Denzel Dumfries yet to make their first starts.

Ventola likes the club’s new signings, stating that “I have always liked Correa, Dzeko needs no introduction. If the newcomers fit in well, Inter will compete for the Scudetto.”

Of another new signing he stated, “And let’s not forget Calhanoglu, he has a lot of quality and can do well.”

“Inzaghi has improved,” he went on, “he is not just someone who practices 3-5-2. The club has been good at approaching the Lukaku’s replacement, good chemistry and intelligence with what they had available. They’ll be in for the Scudetto they play it all right, though the Champions League is a whole different story as it is every season.”
