Inter wing-back Valentine Lazaro is close to a departure, with only a few details remaining before his move to Portuguese giants Benfica is completed.

This according to today’s print edition of Lisbon-based newspaper Record, who report that the 25-year-old will make the switch to Benfica on a two-year loan containing a purchase obligation worth €8.5 million.

The two clubs have been at work on reaching an agreement for the transfer of the Austrian, who is out of favour at Inter having failed to establish a place for himself since joining from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2019.

Lazaro returned to Inter this summer from a loan with Borussia Monchengladbach but has been expected to depart and despite the interest of a number of clubs around Europe it is Benfica who are in pole position to win the chase for his signature.

The deal looks to be all done and the 25-year-old will make the switch to the Lisbon-based club before the end of the transfer window.
