Real Madrid Director Emilio Butrageno is aware that Inter will be formidable opponents, and considers them to be a tough draw in the group stage of the Champions League.

Speaking to Real Madrid’s official social media channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the director gave his view that the Group D draw, containing Inter, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Sheriff Tiraspol, resulted in a strong group based on recent experience.

Aside from Champions League debutants Sheriff, the remaining three teams in the group also shared a group in last season’s competition, with Borussia Monchengladbach having made up the fourth club in the group.

The head-to-head matches between all three showed a high level of competitiveness, and all three remains strong, with Sheriff also having proven themselves a worthy side after qualifying via an emphatic playoff round win against Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.

Butrageno is fully prepared for the group to be a difficult test for all four sides, including last season’s La Liga runners-up and Champions League semi-finalists.

“Last year we played against two opponents and we have already seen how difficult they are,” he said of Inter and Shakhtar, “and this year it will be no different.”

“Sheriff has been added and we must congratulate them. They will be a competitive and difficult team. We must be prepared for all six games, there are no easy ones,” he went on.

Butrageno explained, “In the Champions League all matches must be played at the highest level of intensity to get to top spot, which is the goal, and qualify to return to the round of sixteen draw.”
