Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is keenly awaiting the return of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN (via L’Interista) after the 3-1 win over Hellas Verona last night, the 45-year-old Italian coach touched on the return of the 32-year-old Sanchez.

“We mustn’t forget that this team is also missing Sanchez, who we are recovering.

“He will need a bit of time, but he is an important player and on a par with the other three in the squad.”

Inzaghi is excited for the return of the former Arsenal man, believing him to be equally as important as Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa and Edin Dzeko.

The 32-year-old Chilean forward, who is contracted to Inter until 2023, will likely be used as a super sub by Inzaghi, bringing him on in the latter stages of games in order to provide an extra spark.

Sanchez struggled for playing time under previous coach Antonio Conte last campaign, making only 12 starts out of 30 league appearances. In his 1138 minutes on the pitch, Sanchez scored seven goals and provided seven assists.
