Italy coach Roberto Mancini has called up Inter trio Nicolo Barella, Stefano Sensi and Alessandro Bastoni for the upcoming international break.

As reported by Italian news outlet ANSA yesterday, Mancini has called up 34 players for the three 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against Bulgaria, Switzerland and Lithuania next month.

Notable inclusions include Roma talisman Nicolo Zaniolo, who is back in the squad for the first time in a year due to injury, and Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca, who has been called up for the first time.

Barella and Bastoni were both part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020 this summer under coach Mancini, whilst Sensi was forced to withdraw due to injury before the beginning of the tournament.

The 24-year-old Barella became a household name around Europe this summer, with his strong performances for the Azzurri not going unnoticed as the team won the competition for the first time since 1968.
