Former Roma defender Federico Balzaretti thought that Inter’s defence gave them the edge over Juventus.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN (via FcInterNews) earlier today, the 39-year-old Italian touched on the title race between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri, following Juventus’ 1-0 loss to Empoli yesterday.

“Yesterday Inter gave the impression of a team that could score goals at any time. Inter’s defence would scare me if I were Juve, nobody has that.

“Skriniar, De Vrij and Bastoni are the new Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini. These are things to work on.”

Juventus have had a poor start to the season, only picking up one point from the first two games of the season, drawing Udinese 2-2 in the season opener before losing to Empoli 1-0 at home yesterday.

The Bianconeri’s next game of the season is against Napoli on 12th September. Their first Derby d’Italia of the season will come on 24th October, with the return leg being scheduled for 3rd April 2022.

Inter, on the other hand, started the season in flying form, winning their first two games of the season against Genoa and Hellas Verona.

The Nerazzurri will face Sampdoria on 12th September after the international break, before facing Spanish giants Real Madrid in their Champions League opener on 15th September.
