Inter will meet with defender Milan Skriniar next month to discuss a contract renewal.

As reported by Italian media outlet FcInterNews earlier today, the Nerazzurri want to secure the 26-year-old Slovakian defender’s future at all costs, with the player being the backbone of their team.

His current deal expires in 2023 and so the Milanese club want to tie down the former Sampdoria man to a new contract.

Next month Inter will meet with Skriniar to discuss the renewal, with the idea to start from a base salary of around €4 million plus add-ons.

The player doesn’t have an agent and only consults with a lawyer for bureaucratic issues, so he will discuss the contract with the management directly.

The 26-year-old Skriniar, who joined Inter in 2017, made 32 Serie A appearances last season under previous coach Antonio Conte, for a total of 2779 minutes. In that time, he scored three goals and helped the side keep 13 clean sheets.
