Legendary former striker Antonio Cassano believes that Inter have the strongest available foward options among Serie A teams should Alexis Sanchez be able to stay fit.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Bobo TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the former forward, who played for the Nerazzurri as well as for Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria among other clubs, gave his views on the prospects at Inter.

Cassano believes that the Nerazzurri have done intelligent transfer business in the summer despite the losses which they suffered in the transfer market, and that their squad has a strong balance to it.

For him, the attack which they can boast has more quality to it among all the options available than any other teams in the division, though he specifies that the availability of the injury-prone Alexis Sanchez could be key to allowing them to live up to their full potential in an attacking sense.

“Inter have the base, defensively,” he said, “but the great freedom that Simone Inzaghi, as an intelligent guy, gives to the team is important.”

He continued, “Then there is a guy who has gone into oblivion but is a champion, Sanchez. If he is fit, as an attack the Nerazzurri team can play up front however they like and they can compete with everyone in Italy and in Europe.”

“The club has moved brilliantly with signings,” he said. “Theyy gotDzeko, replaced Eriksen with Calhanoglu. They rediscovered a player who was wanted by Conte in Vidal, sent Vecino onto the pitch who had been sidelined under Conte, and he contributes.”

“Let’s wait for Sanchez,” his verdict went, “if he’s okay, someone has to make room for him. If he is fit he is a Champion with a capital C, and someone has to make room for him.”

On the Scudetto race he said, “In my opinion, Inter is the favourite. If Correa scores twenty goals this year, Real or Barca will come calling next year. They are missing that type of player.”
