Former Roma full back Max Tonetto thought that Inter and Juventus would be fighting for the league title this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Centro Suono Sport (via FcInterNews) yesterday, the 46-year-old Italian first spoke about the impact of new coach Jose Mourinho at Roma.

“It’s definitely already Mourinho’s Roma. There’s a lot of work to do, but he’s already made an important mark on the team.”

Tonetto then touched on the battle for a top four finish next season.

“Juventus and Inter will be the top two, then Napoli, Roma and AC Milan will battle it out for fourth place.

“And I’d take Atalanta out of the top four. There are only a few places for the Champions League and those who miss out will be disappointed.”

Simone Inzaghi has already had a strong start to his career with Inter, overseeing two wins against Genoa and Hellas Verona.

The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Sampdoria on 12th September after the upcoming international break, and Inzaghi will have his toughest test yet following that game.

On 15th September Inter will face Real Madrid in their Champions League opener, an important match that sets the tone for the rest of the team’s work in the group stages.

The other teams in Inter’s Champions League group are Roberto De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk and competition debutant Sheriff Tiraspol.
