Napoli have joined the race for Inter-linked Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, and have made contact with the Uruguayan over a possible move.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who report that the Uruguayan is on the Partenopei’s radar as they look to complete one more midfield signing, and that they are weighing up a late swoop for him before the transfer window closes.

Inter had been reportedly close to a deal for Nandez, with talks having been in an advanced stage with Cagliari and the player keen on the move after agreeing terms with the Nerazzurri.

However, negotiations broke down after the Rossoblu rejected Inter’s preferred financial terms, and the player has remained in Sardinia and has started the club’s first two Serie A matches of the season despite still wanting to leave.

Napoli are still hoping to bring in one more midfielder before the end of the transfer window, and they are in contact with Nandez over a last-minute switch.
