Cagliari have come forward and registered a late interest in bringing in young Inter striker Eddie Salcedo.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 19-year-old is a target for the Rossoblu as they look to replace the departed Giovanni Simeone before the transfer window slams shut.

Cagliari allowed Simeone to leave on loan for Hellas Verona last week, and now are actively stepping up the search to sign a replacement for the Argentine in their squad.

Salcedo and Benevento forward Gianluca Lapadula are their two main options at this stage and they could soon mount a late push for either of the pair.

Salcedo remains at Inter despite having been linked with a move away on loan for much of the summer since his return from his loan spell with Hellas Verona, and it remains to be seen whether the Rossoblu will make a deal to bring him to Sardinia before the transfer deadline.
