Former Inter manager and player Marco Tardelli believes that the Nerazzurri are the only club in Serie A who currently look fully ready to compete for the Scudetto.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, the 66-year-old spoke highly of Inter based on their first two performances and gave the view that they are currently better-placed to win the Scudetto than another of his former clubs, Juventus.

Inter are one of five sides to have won both of their opening matches, alongside Lazio, Roma, Napoli, and city rivals AC Milan, and have done so with an emphatic 4-0 win over Genoa followed by a nervy but in the end convincing comeback win against Hellas Verona.

The Bianconeri by contrast have taken only one point from their opening two matches, drawing with Udinese before a home defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Empoli.

Tardelli believes that Juventus can get past this setback because “because even if the opponents are many in reality at the moment they don’t seem so much better than Juve. They won without showing me anything in particular.”

However, he singled out defending champions Inter as a team who could be hard for them to catch, stating that “Only Inter have convinced. They are fun, and cheerful. Lazio have also shown themselves well.”
