Inter are tracking the likes of Ajax’s Andre Onana, and Serie A keepers Alex Meret and Alessio Cragno, as long-term replacements for Number One and captain Samir Handanovic.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Nerazzurri are planning for life without Handanovic in the near future, and that Onana, Meret, and Cragno top their list of possible successors.
Handanovic is still the undisputed first-choice keeper at Inter having held down the role for nearly a decade since joining from Udinese in the summer of 2012.
However, the Slovenian is now 37, out of contract next summer, and his error against Hellas Verona showed once again that the player is not thought to be as reliable as he once was.
Ajax keeper Onana could arrive on a free transfer next summer as he is out of contract at the end of June 2022, but the likes of Napoli’s Meret and Cagliari’s Cragno are also considered to be serious options to replace Handanovic from within Serie A.
