Inter striker Edin Dzeko is expected to be handed significant responsibility when he steps on to the pitch for Bosnia and Herzegovina against France for the nation’s first 2022 World Cup qualifier.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who predict the starting eleven for the match and include the recently-arrived Nerazzurri man, who captains the Bosnian national team.

Dzeko is the nation’s all-time top scorer and record appearance maker, having scored 59 goals and made 114 appearances since 2007, and he remains a talismanic figure for the country.

Alongside Barcelona midfielder and former Roma teammate Miralem Pjanic, Dzeko is one of the most well-regarded players in the Bosnian squad, having received renown and won major titles at club level.

Bosnian supporters will hope that the 35-year-old will show the same form which he consistently did for Roma and is already doing at the Nerazzurri, and that he can lead them to a result against Les Bleus.

The predicted lineup is:

Goalkeeper: Ibrahim Sehic

Defenders: Anel Ahmedhodic, Dennis Hadzikadunic, Sinisa Sanicanin, Eldar Civic, Sead Kolasinac

Midfielders: Miralem Pjanic, Amir Hadziahmetovic, Gojka Cimirot

Forwards: Edin Dzeko, Ermedin Demirovic
