Former Lazio and Italy midfielder Marco Parolo has given his impression of the qualities that are in Inter’s squad this season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 36-year-old stated that he believes that Hakan Calhanoglu can add more to the team than Christian Eriksen did, and that his former teammate Joaquin Correa will start ahead of Alexis Sanchez.

Parolo played under current Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi for several seasons with Lazio, having joined the club under Stefano Pioli’s watch in the summer of 2014, and making 265 appearances for the Bianconeri the bulk of which came under Inzaghi.

The midfielder gave his insight into how players will slot into his former manager’s system, with Calhanoglu someone he believes will make a significant contribution in midfield.

Meanwhile, Correa, who he played together with for three seasons in the Italian capital, is a player who he believes will start regularly for the Nerazzurri.

“They keep the same form as before, the defense and the midfield and Correa is more of a starter than Sanchez who, in any case, can lend a hand,” he predicted of the Nerazzurri this season.

He went on, “Hakimi’s departure weighs heavily, but Calhanoglu is more functional than Eriksen. In short, Inter will be ahead.”
