Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola believes that his former club have gotten the season off to the right start, and that they have established momentum, confidence, and morale with their opening to the season.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Boba TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the 43-year-old highlighted that this kind of strong start is especially important for the Nerazzurri given their difficult summer.
Inter endured a summer of upheaval, with a transfer window that saw them lose two important players in the form of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu following the exit of head coach Antonio Conte.
A number of players and an impressive young manager in the form of former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi were brought in to replace these departure, but the sense was always going to be that the club could potentially struggle thanks to their losses.
However, the new-look Inter side have scored seven goals and conceded just once on the way to taking six points from six in their opening two matches, something which Ventola believes holds importance beyond just placing them highly in the table early on.
He stated, “An interim period followed the euphoria over the title win, and perhaps the nervousness over the forced sales after what has been known about the club. But the pitch is the most important thing.”
“Starting like this,” he went on, “with the club working the right way and the team immediately heading in the right direction, allows you to dampen a sense of negative momentum that could have turned you back to pessimism. Inzaghi was spectacular.”
