Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal is looking forward to taking on Brazil in Chile’s first 2022 World Cup qualifier of the international break.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the 34-year-old outlined his ambitions ahead of the significant qualifying clash, and stated that he is excited to face the Selecao.

Chile and Brazil are not infrequent rivals within CONMEBOL, having most recently come up against one another at the Copa America this summer where Brazil eliminated Vidal’s Chile side at the quarter-final stage.

This does not mean that Chile do not have what it takes to bring home three points from tomorrow’s encounter, and they have gotten the better of their South American rivals on numerous occasions in the past.

Vidal comes into the match in excellent club form, having come off the bench and proved decisive in both of the Nerazzurri’s first two Serie A matches of the season, providing a goal and an assist to kill of Genoa before setting up the assist for what proved to be Joaquin Correa’s match-winner against Hellas Verona.

Of the international break, Vidal said, “This is the first time that we have played against three direct rivals all together, we hope to obtain excellent results.”

“It motivates me a lot to face Brazil,” he said of tomorrow’s match, “it is a game that I have been waiting for for a long time and for which I have prepared myself in the best way. You have to give your full concentration to get the best results.”

The midfielder concluded, “It will be an intense match and we hope to repeat the success we had at home against them in 2015 in the last qualifying round.”
