Inter made a major financial push to sign Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne this summer, offering the winger a deal worth over €30 million to join the club.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that with the inclusion of a significant signing bonus, the contract offered to the 30-year-old by the Nerazzurri would have netted the player around €31 million over four years.
Insigne is out of contract with the Partneopei at the end of June 2022, and with no agreement found on an extension and contract talks stalled, a number of clubs showed an interest in signing the player this summer.
Foremost among his suitors were Inter, who considered him as an option in their search for attacking reinforcements following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and were reportedly in talks with both the winger and his club.
The Nerazzurri offered Insigne a four-year deal worth €6 million net per season, as well as a €7 million signing bonus and image rights, and could could return with their offer yet to sign him in a coming transfer window.
