Young Inter wing-back Georgios Vagiannidis is set to make his return to former club Panathinaikos to jump-start his career after he was unable to fully show his talent while with the Nerazzurri.
Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, the 19-year-old’s agent Dimitirs Zinonos explained that with a return to his home country the player can make a positive impression and move forward in his career again.
Vagiannidis had been spotted by Inter as a young player, and a move for him was completed from Panithanaikos in the summer of 2019, with hopes that he could develop his prospective talent and become an important player.
However, the Greek defender’s time under contract with Inter has not been marked by success, with a loan spell in Belgium with Sint-Truiden not enough to convince the club that he has a future at the Giuseppe Meazza, and so he has been sent back to Panathinaikos where he will hope to show his best form again.
“The most likely thing is that he will return to Greece,” his agent explained. “The operation involves a free transfer to Panathinaikos with a percentage going to the Nerazzurri on the future resale. The youngster returns to Hellenic land to play and to show his qualities.”
