Inter are working hard to come to a swift agreement with midfielder Marcelo Brozovic on a new contract, with the 28-year-old’s situation considered by the club to be a priority.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that with the midfielder’s current deal expiring next summer, the Nerazzurri are keen to avoid the possibility of losing him on a free transfer in a year’s time.
Brozovic currently earns a net of €4.2 million per season, while he is asking for this amount to be increased to €5.5 million net annually, and it remains to be seen if an agreement will be found which will bring the parties together on the finances involved.
The Croat is considered an important player at the Giuseppe Meazza having been a regular feature under Antonio Conte and set to continue in this vein under Simone Inzaghi.
Major European clubs could come in for the midfielder next summer should he be approaching the end of his contract and potentially available on a free transfer, a situation which the Nerazzurri urgently wish to avoid.
