Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries is set to make his first start for the Nerazzurri against Bologna, in the fourth match of the Serie A season on September 18.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 25-year-old is being slowly introduced into the team but that manager Simone Inzaghi aims to give him his starting debut against the Rossoblu.

Dumfries has only played for a few minutes for the Nerazzurri since arriving from PSV last month, with the Dutchman having coming on late off of the bench for a run-out in the first Serie A match of the season against Genoa.

The 25-year-old is still working to reach peak fitness, and in the mean time Inzaghi is not keen to rush him into action, and so he is unlikely to feature from the start against either Sampdoria or Real Madrid.

However, Bologna looks set to be the first start for a player who the coach is hoping will grow into a major role in the team.
