Ex-Inter player Alessandro Altobelli has been speaking highly of Inter’s various strike options after Joaquin Correa’s remarkable debut for the club against Hellas Verona last week, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Alessandro Altobelli explained that it became immediately very obvious as to why Simone Inzaghi was pushing to get Inter to sign Joaquin Correa from Lazio.

“We quickly understood why Inzaghi asked to have Correa.

“He and Lautaro are the great news of this championship which has improved after the departure of champions like Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking specifically about the all-Argentinian strike partnership that Simone Inzaghi now has, Alessandro Altobelli explained how the two players clearly know how to work together.

“Those two are good, fast, they found an understanding in a very short time, proving they can play together.”

Turning his attentions to other players in the squad such as Edin Dzeko, the man who made 317 Inter appearances explained how despite the Bosnian’s age, he can still be extremely important to Inter this season.

The ex-Juventus and Brescia forward made a comparison to Jose Alfatini who had a boost in his ability to affect games as he got older, when players are forced to adapt to their age.

“Edin Dzeko, he’s a great player, but he’s turned 35 and may have trouble playing continuously.

“It reminds me of Altafini, who came on the field towards the end of his career and had the ability to win games himself.”
