Ex-Inter striker Roberto Boninsegna is feeling very upbeat about Inter’s attacking options despite what has overall been a very difficult summer for the club, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roberto Boninsegna explained how Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa instantly found an understanding when the latter came onto the pitch against Hellas Verona to score the two key goals in the 3-1 win.

“Their value is certainly not discovered yet, they got into shape immediately, finding an understanding with their eyes closed.

“A really nice pair, who know how to give balance to the team.”

Roberto Boninsegna was also keen to point out that Inter have effectively lost three key players this summer. The obvious two are Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, but he also includes Christian Eriksen as it is not yet clear when he will be able to play following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

“Inter have lost three key players, namely Hakimi, Eriksen and Lukaku but with Dzeko in the centre of Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 they can have the same attacking strength as last season.”

Speaking specifically about Inter’s new Bosnian striker, Edin Dzeko, Roberto Boninsegna explained how despite his age, as long as he is fit enough the player will still be important for Inter.

“Replacing Lukaku is very difficult, almost impossible. Dzeko is the only one who can succeed even if he is no longer very young.

“But this does not seem like a problem to me, if he is in good condition he can still make a difference.”
