Inter are making progress in their attempts to sign Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana when his Ajax contract expires in the summer of next year, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has no interest in extending his stay with the Dutch champions and is actively seeking a new challenge.

Andre Onana very nearly moved to Olympique Lyonnais in the summer on a permanent deal but the transfer fell through late in the window.

Inter’s interest was already known then but the Nerazzurri would rather wait and sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Samir Handanovic is almost certainly entering his final year as Inter’s first-choice goalkeeper as he is 39-years-old and his abilities appear to be declining.

There is a chance that Inter could accelerate the deal and sign Andre Onana for a small fee in January.
