The coach of the Uruguay national side has been speaking ahead of his side’s next match against Bolivia that Inter midfielder Matias Vecino will feature in, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, with quotes reported by FcINternews, head coach Oscar Tabarez explained that this is a game that Uruguay must set out to win as they are considered the better of the two South American sides.

“It’s a game to go and win and not as an expression of desire. Bolivia have never beaten us in Montevideo, but it has nothing to do with what will happen in the match.

“They are a very logical team, they fight and in terms of players they are similar to the side we met in Copa America. We must take precautions and do what is necessary to achieve the goal: to win.”

South American qualification for the World Cup starts with a 10 team group, from which the top five progress to the next stage. Uruguay currently sit in fourth place after 7 matches, three points behind Ecuador.

Matias Vecino is expected to start the match against Bolivia as part of a midfield three. He will sit just in front of the defence and act as a screen for the back line. Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will likely be alongside him.
