An ex-Italian manager has suggested that Inter are one of the teams in with a chance of winning the Serie A title again this season, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview La Gazzetta dello Sport, Renzo Ulivieri explained that the league is wide open this season and that a lot of teams could win it.

He was keen to stress though, that the five points already dropped by Juventus this season do not mean anything at this stage of a 38 game campaign.

“The championship is open and fascinating. Yes, Juventus are in the race, apart from being five points behind, which means nothing.

“But there are also Atalanta, Inter, AC Milan, AS Roma and Maurizio Sarri with Lazio.”

Juventus threw away a two goal lead against Udinese on the opening day of the season and had a last minute winner from Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out by VAR for offside.

They then lost 1-0 at home to newly promoted side Empoli which represents an awful start to the campaign for new boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Inter meanwhile have won both of their opening fixtures.
