Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella received a solid though not spectacular grade for his performance against Switzerland with the Italian national team yesterday.

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport handed the 24-year-old a score of 6/10 in their player ratings for the match in today’s print edition, praising his energy though also noting that he was not able to make the difference in the 0-0 draw against Murat Yakin’s Switzerland team.

Barella’s form with the Nerazzurri since joining in the summer of 2019 has seen him earn a regular starting spot in Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri team.

The Inter man was one of the stars for Italy as they lifted the EURO 2020 trophy, and the midfielder is set to continue to play a significant role at international level for the years to come as with at club level.

Barella’s outing against Switzerland was not one of his most eye-catching, but Tuttsport still found some positive words for his contributions.

They wrote of his performance, “He started well, showing intensity in his tackles. He faded especially after taking a knock at the end of the first half. Showed fight after the break.”
