Inter forward Alexis Sanchez could be available for selection in time for next Wednesday’s Champions League group stage clash with Real Madrid, with his recovery progressing well.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 32-year-old will be assessed today by team doctor Piero Volpi and that he could be ready to appear on the bench soon.

Sanchez has been recovering from the persistent calf injury which ruled him out of the first two Serie A matches of the season having also seen him miss much of the summer, but the end of the process appears to be in sight.

The Chilean’s recovery has been moving along swiftly during the international break, and depending on the outcome of upcoming assessments, he could be available as early as the Serie A match away at Sampdoria on the weekend, and if not then, could be ready to start on the bench against Real Madrid next Wednesday.
