Inter wing-back Federico Dimarco could start the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match away to Sampdoria this weekend, taking the place of Ivan Perisic in the squad.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who predict that Perisic could make way for the 23-year-old, with the Croat having started the first two matches of Inter’s season.

Dimarco returned to Inter this summer from two years on loan with Hellas Verona, and it may not be long before he makes a major impact at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The Corriere note that Inter managed to score two goals against both Genoa and Verona with Dimarco on the pitch in place of Perisic, with the Verona match having been level when the Italian took to the pitch as a substitute.

Dimarco could make himself a major part of head coach Simone Inzaghi’s thinking as he gradually gets phased into the team, and with Perisic likely to leave the club next summer when his contract expires, could become a regular fixture in the team.
