Inter’s squad has the highest average age of all teams in Serie A, with an average age of 28.8 accounting for all first-team squad members.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who reported the average ages of Serie A squads based on data from Transfermarkt, and noted that Napoli and Atalanta are the two teams behind the Nerazzurri in the list with average squad member ages of 27.5 and 27.4 respectively.

The oldest member of the Nerazzurri’s squad is third-choice goalkeeper Alex Cordaz, who is 38 and will turn 39 on January 1 of next year, while the second oldest is Number One Samir Handanovic, who is 37.

Inter’s high average age reflects the number of experienced backups in the squad, with players such as Aleksandar Kolarov, Arturo Vidal, and Andrea Ranocchia well over the age of thirty but not regular starters, while many of the team’s regular starters are well under the average age of the squad.
