Inter are entering a significant run in their season in both Serie A and the Champions League, with the club looking to confirm that their early form in the league can be sustainable while also making a strong start in Europe.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain how the Nerazzurri will have to take the right approach to balance domestic and European considerations.
Sunday marks Inter’s return to Serie A action after the international break with a trip to Genoa to face Sampdoria, and already the club will have to cope with the pressures of a long and exhausting season and show that they can use squad rotation to their advantage.
Several key squad members, particularly those away with South American national teams, could be rested for the Sampdoria clash, and this fixture could be an early indicator of how the entire squad can function in the adverse situation of not having all the important players ready to start, something which is sure to factor in for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, against Real Madrid next Wednesday, Inter will face an opponent who they lost to twice in the group stage of the Champions League last season, and the pressure will be on them to show that they’ve learned from the experience by kicking off the group stage of this year’s edition of the competition more strongly.
