The father of Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is in Milan with the intention of starting up contract talks for the 28-year-old soon.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the negotiations could begin in the next few days and that at the moment there is optimism on finding an agreement and that the will of all parties is for the Croat to continue on at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Brozovic’s current deal is set to run out at the end of June 2022, and the club have made it a priority to secure his future and avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The player is thought to be demanding a salary at least equal to that of summer signing Hakan Calhanoglu, who earns a net of €5 million per season, and could begin from a request of €6 million net.

It remains to be seen if an agreement on a new deal will ultimately be found, but the process of negotiating should begin imminently with the player also set to return to Milan this week from international duty.
