Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli believes that despite the loss of Romelu Lukaku, Inter have become a more potent attacking force this season.
Speaking on Sky Sport Italia, the former striker gave his analysis of how the Nerazzurri’s attack functions and expressed the view that they are a strong attacking team than last season due to the summer’s additions.
The departure of Romelu Lukaku at the start of last month came as a major shock to much of the Nerazzurri world, with the Belgian having been the cornerstone of a strong attack under Antonio Conte as the club won their first Scudetto in eleven years last season.
The club wasted no time in finding reinforcements in the absence of the Belgian, opting not to directly replace him but rather to create a more balanced and versatile attacking complement.
Based on the performances before the international break, the Nerazzurri do not look to be a side with attacking problems, and Ravanelli believes that they have already shown that they can outshine themselves from last campaign.
“Dzeko is essential for balance and to let the team breathe,” he explained, “then brings the ball under control in the final third. Let’s not forget the two Argentines, I like them a lot. Lautaro is very strong physically and knows how to protect the ball, Correa creates numerical superiority.”
He went on, “Inter are lucky enough to have three forwards who can coexist, in my opinion the Nerazzurri attack has improved a lot compared to last year.”
Of their ambitions he said, “To be more European, Inter will have to play in the Champions League with the same mentality as in the league, that is, the one created by Conte. Inter today is a team that is more aware of its strength, it has reached the maturity to express itself to the fullest even at a European level.”
