Former Inter midfielder Borja Valero believes that the Nerazzurri are the strongest team in Serie A and the favourites to win the Scudetto this season.
Speaking to Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb,com, the 36-year-old gave the view that his former club would be the likeliest side to win Serie A, and that they would be capable of defending last year’s crown.
Valero spent three seasons with the Nerazzurri, joining from Fiorentina in the summer of 2017, and while he was never able to win the Scudetto with the club he did manage to help the team finish in the top four in each season he was with the Nerazzurri.
Inter have only gotten stronger in the years since, and the Spaniard believes that they will have enough to finish top of the pile this season as they did last.
He believes that there are a number of strong teams in Serie A right now but that the best among these is still Inter.
“It’s a good title race,” he said. “Lazio are playing very well and have adapted to Sarri’s ideas, but the favourite is still Inter, given that Inzaghi plays the same way as Conte and they have shown in the first two matchdays that they are very strong.”
