Inter duo Stefano Sensi and Alessandro Bastoni are set to miss Italy’s World Cup qualifiers against Lithuania this evening through injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that both players will be on the bench due to minor injury problems and that they are being assessed on the extent of their injuries.

Sensi and Bastoni had been reportedly planned starters for the Lithuania clash, with Azzurri head coach Roberto Mancini looking to rotate the team after having already played two qualifiers during the international break.

However, with Sensi dealing with a minor calf problem and Bastoni having suffered a bruise in training, the coach will not risk starting either and will instead wait to have them assessed by medical staff.

It remains to be seen how these injury issues will affect the Inter pair ahead of the resumption of the club season, with the Nerazzurri’s clash with Sampdoria only a few days away.
